Melissa Boas has been a school counselor for ten years. She began her career as a middle school counselor. Later, she had the opportunity to serve as a high school counselor within the same district. During this time, Melissa obtained an additional Master’s Degree in Social Emotional Development from Neumann University, a Supervisory Certification from Millersville University, and earned 30 credits toward a doctoral degree in Leadership from Alvernia University. After four years serving as a school counselor, Melissa was promoted to Coordinator of Counseling Services at the same district. Since then, Melissa has obtained a new position where she is currently serving as the Counseling Supervisor at Hempfield School District, since 2015.
Perri Rosen, PhD, Project Director of the Garrett Lee Smith YouthSuicide Prevention grant, a SAMHSA-funded grant awarded to the Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) at the Department of Human Services (DHS) in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This grant is focused on suicide prevention awareness, training, screening, and intervention for youth ages 10-24 throughout the Commonwealth. She is also Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and a Pennsylvania certified Special Education teacher. Additionally, she sits on the Executive Board of the Association of School Psychologists of Pennsylvania (ASPP), and she is a trainer-of-trainers in Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR), as well as a certified trainer of Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA).
Stephen Sharp is a school counselor at Landisville Middle School in the Hempfield School District. He also serves as President of the Lancaster County School Counselors Association. As president, Stephen led fundraising and program implementation for advanced education for school counselors throughout both Lancaster and Lebanon counties in suicide prevention. Stephen also works as a clinician at Philhaven Behavioral Health providing level-of-care assessments, crisis intervention, and physician-assisted evaluations for outpatient, partial, & inpatient care. Stephen is an American Association of Suicidology Accredited School Suicide Prevention Specialist.
